DGND3700v2 randomly and constantly dropping internet/wifi signal.

DGND3700v2 randomly and constantly dropping internet/wifi signal.

I recently bought a Netgear N600 DGND3700v2. I did all the set up as per the instructions. My problem is that it randomly and constantly drops internet, (both wifi signal and to the hard wired computer it's connected to via the Ethernet cable.)
I will be the first to admit to being not very tech savy. I do know that it works part of the time and then the wifi signal just stops.
Is this a common problem with this device, or do I need to do some sort of fix? It is incredibly frustrating. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Re: DGND3700v2 randomly and constantly dropping internet/wifi signal.

I've owned one of these routers for 7-8 months now and i'm having exactly the same problem, I've been in the process of working out whether its an ISP problem or something wrong with router itself, I'm starting to lean towards the router.

Any insight into this problem would be appreciated.

Some more detail might help e.g. how frequent, any time of the day or just daylight hours, what do you do to get round the problem, what is seen in the router log?

Re: DGND3700v2 randomly and constantly dropping internet/wifi signal.

As the OP said it happens randomly, it might drop out once every hour or 5 times in 10 minutes and it occurs at any time.

As for what i do when it drops out, i just wait for it to reconnect as i don't know what the problem is, ive tried restarting the router after it drops out but this doesn't seem to stop the problem.

I can post the router log if you want to have a look as i dont understand a lot of it.

This is exactly what mine does. It may stay connected for a half hour or drop 10 times in 10 minutes. Happens at all times of the day.
How do I post my router log?

The text for the log file should be selectable so you can copy and paste into a reply here.

Forgive my ignorance, as I am not at home right now, but is that found on the computer that is wired to the router/modem with Ethernet cable? Do I find it by accessing the router info on that computer? (I usually have it on that comp showing what devices are connected to my wifi.)

Re: DGND3700v2 randomly and constantly dropping internet/wifi signal.

Well unfortunately I’m not a DSL user, but I see from the logs that the router loses its DSL connection for roughly 25 second periods. Others who understand DSL settings better than me might be able to advise you on what your router settings should be, and what DSL parameters are important. It could be something external to the router like interference on the line that is not being adequately filtered.

Re: DGND3700v2 randomly and constantly dropping internet/wifi signal.

Hi -
I was looking at the same problem. I think we have different problems however.
Your log shows the DSL going up and down repeatedly after registering a Denial of Service Attack (DOS). IMHO your problem lies in your service provider. You can identify the source(s) of the DOS attack with Traceroute (/tracert IP address)... However you're best bet is to call your service provider and review the log with them.

My problem is in my device I think. Please check my logic and comment;
My log file shows not a down 'uplink' like you have. It shows frequent and repeated registrations of my individual workstations with the N600, using DHCP.

I can see this from the ADVANCED tab, ADVANCED SETUP area, INTERNET PORT, 'Show Statistics''
This shows the uptime for each of the ports on the router, including 2.4G Wireless and 5G Wireless.
The wireless connections cycle much more frequently than the wired connections, about every 1-2 minutes.

On the same tab, 'Connection Status' shows how long my connection has been established with my ISP... days.

I think its time for a new router...
agree?

Re: DGND3700v2 randomly and constantly dropping internet/wifi signal.

I've been having the same problem with a 3700v2 I purchased less than a month a go.
I've been on the 'chat' support, and after the first one I thought we got somewhere, but then it dropped out again later that day, and again the following day.....
I got back on to chat support, and of course went through the whole thing again - changed more settings, and in the end I think the 'expert' didn't know what else to do, so he got me to reflash the firmware and then did the chat version of hanging up on me!
After the second round of 'support', my internet download speed became less than half of the usual, and the ping time was fluctuating wildly from around 60ms to over 600ms!
So I started another chat session, but when I had to start explaining the whole problem again, I gave up on that & tried the phone support.
Phone support tells me I have done "all the steps" now to resolve intermittent dropouts, and so he has processed a replacement for me....
But when I go through the process for replacement ite tells me I need to send my router in to them (at my cost), and then wait for them to send a replacement back to me..... but then when I complete the process, it tells me I don't need to do anything more, the replacement will be delivered to me & the courier will pick up my old one.... and then I get an email that tells me I need to send mine in - but doesn't give me an address to send it to!!!
Seriously - do these guys have any idea what thye are doing??
I puchased Netgear because I thought they were quality, and would have good backup if there was any issue - but the customer service on this has been terrible! I can't compare them to any other competitor though, because the competitor products I have used has never caused me any problems!
I am sooo anoyed right now!

Re: DGND3700v2 randomly and constantly dropping internet/wifi signal.

I am having similar issues. Have had my DGND3700v2 for nearly a year. Started noticing lots of drops a few months ago. Lots of internet research showed I needed to update my firmware. Currently at 1.00.15NA. This helped with the drops somewhat but now they are occuring again. Contacted ISP and (! Surprise !) they blame the modem. Contacted Contacted netgear phone support and they want to charge me $200 for support contract to help! WTF!!?!?

Anyway, before this post, have been getting booted off anywhere between 20 sec and several hours. Support had me reboot it so many times there is no significant history in log. Here it is if anybody can offer some help! Noticed there is a newer FW (1.00.17NA) so going to update again. Hopefully it will help!
