I have a DGND3700v2 ADSL modem/router. I am switching from DSL to cable for internet. I have a basic cable modem butI don't wan't to have to buy a new router/WiFi AP. Is there a way to use the Netgear device with the cable modem? Is it as simple as using an RJ11 to cat5 adapter? Thanks.

Thanks for the quick response, "Antidote".
> I have a DGND3700v2 ADSL modem/router.
That sounds more likely that the "DGND7300v2" in the subject.
Yes, sorry for the confusion.

Is your (unspecified) "a basic cable modem" a simple modem, or a
modem+router?
Yes, my "(unspecified)" "basic cable modem" is just that, a modem. Sorry again for the confusion.
> Is there a way to use the Netgear device with the cable modem?
Yes, although some details may depend on exactly what your "the cable
modem" actually is.
See above regarding the "(unspecified)" "basic cable modem".
> Is it as simple as using an RJ11 to cat5 adapter?
No, it's simpler. (Which is good, because there is no such adapter.)
Good to know, since it would be problematic to have purchased the RJ11 to RJ45 adapter up for sale at various places, both physical and virtual.
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Look for
"Gigabit-Ethernet WAN port for connecting to external cable or fiber
modem".
Then look at the manual for your "the cable modem" for guidance on
how to connect a router to it.
Thanks for the advice . I will do so with my "(actual)" "model number". Thanks for taking the time to go through my question line by line as you could have simply said "RTFM" and not been helpful at all.

Well, yeah, I could build one, too, but the DSL signals expected by
the RJ11 phone jack on the DGND3700v2 don't much resemble the Ethernet
signals provided by the modem's RJ45 Ethernet interface. If nothing
else, it can be tough to cram eight wires into an RJ11 plug.

Right, I recommended reading _two_ manuals (making my advice twice
as good as that).
Be sure to report back with your heart-warming and triumphant success
story.
