Re: DM200 still having bandwidth issues with V1.0.0.61 FW

DM200 still having bandwidth issues with V1.0.0.61 FW

I am still experiencing bandwidth issues with that FW but not as catastrophic as all the previuos FW combined.

This FW partially solved the issue, but still far below the DGND3700 I have.

dwnload DGND 5.8

DM200 before V1.0.0.61 4.2 after V1.0.0.61 5.1

The experience I was having with that modem was horrible and I was angry, bandwidth catastrophic and endurance too, had to reset it once a day!!

So keep the work and go back to the drawing board!!

Any chance you can tell people what those "bandwidth issues" might be?

It could cover a multitude of sins.

Here at least, the DM200 provides the bandwidth that my ISP (BT) provides, ~66 Mbps, which is about as fast as its DSL service can deliver anywhere.

Re: DM200 still having bandwidth issues with V1.0.0.61 FW

My ISP is Orange, my subscription is 6M, with my DGND3700 I get 5.8.

With the DM200 I am getting only 4.2 max with all the previous FW and 5.1 with the current FW.

The endurance whitch was on previuos FW catastrophic with heavy download, is fairly the same as the DGND3700.

@michaelkenward  do you need some extra infos?

Re: DM200 still having bandwidth issues with V1.0.0.61 FW

Is the DM200 acting as the router on your network, or is it in modem only (bridge) mode in front of a router?

Did you reset the router to factory settings after the firmware flash?

New firmware sometimes introduces changes that are not compatible with the old configuration.

So while it isn't guaranteed to fix problems a factory reset is the first thing to try if you have issues with new firmware.

This is a nuisance because you then have to reconfigure the device all over again.

You can backup your settings before you reset and restore them later. But that may just bring back the fault. Then again, at least you will know if the reset fixed the problem.

I am with Modem Router modem not modem only.

If you are using a DM200 with an R8500, then the DM200 should be in modem-only mode, or the R8500 should be in AP mode.

One or the other, preferably the first.

If you do not do that, then you have two routers, which can cause various issues.

My DGND3700 was configured the same way and had better bandwidth.

The DGND3700 could not be configured in the same way as the DM200. That is a full-blown modem/router with different hardware and design. I wouldn't be surprised if that was also throwing away bandwidth.

By all means stick with the broken installation. But you are then in no position to complain about performance.

If you refuse to configure the thing properly, you just have to live with the consequences.

It may be that setting things up properly will achieve nothing. But Netgear is not going to pay much attention to you unless you try that.
