DOS attacks
Hi.
Just bought my first netgear product. The D7000.
While looking in the logs I see TONS of DOS attacks.
Should I be worried?
How do I stop this.
I'm on a MAC.
I also have Norton Security installed and it's working ok.

Re: DOS attacks
These are probably Netgear scaring everyone to death with fake reports. It seems to be a common feature of the logging regime for Netgear devices. There are more messages around here on the same theme.
Remember, the logs show stuff that the modem is fending off before they can get at your network.

Re: DOS attacks
If you're on a mac you don't need to run anti-virus. As long as you keep your operating system up to date you'll be fine.
how do I know this....? I work for Apple as a tech....
if you run an anti-virus, you'll only be slowing down your system and conflicting the OS with its own security features built in.

It is very very dangerous telling people that any computer architecture is 100% safe.
Even the most diehard Mac fans do not make such claims:
Do Macs get viruses, and do Macs need antivirus software: Mac security FAQs - Macworld UK
Do Apple Macs need antivirus? Do Macs get viruses? Mac security explained - PC Advisor
Best Mac Antivirus 2017: Paid and Free Security Software for Mac - Macworld UK
Does Mac OS X Need Antivirus Protection? | Comparitech
This is not the right place to get into "Mac wars" but here are many more like that out there.
But by all means maintain the faith.

Re: DOS attacks
Hi.
Norton DOES catch some stuff in the logs. I don't think Apple is 100% safe like everyone claims. I'm guessing Norton 'might not' make a useless product.
I don't work for Apple.

You mean Norton's security software? Good point.
I just found this quote:
Guess where?
They do work for Apple.
