Hello Mymodem1
Have you tried to factory reset the modem? Also make sure when updating the modem to be connected with a pc via Ethernet and not use wireless as it can fail to update and cause issues with the modem.

Thanks, I tried a factory reset but only got the red light of death, Looks like I bricked the unit due to Telstra drop out during download. Telstra has already fried their supplied modem hence going back to netgear modem, while waiting for replacement.
Found the answer on whirlpool forum. Down load latest soft ware to computer from netgear site with wifi or other modem, then connect faulty modem to computer with ethernet cable and type in gateway address. Basic screen appears then follow the prompts. Restart modem problem fixed. New software installed modem, passwords are still operating, modem works normally.
Problem solved.
