Different wifi and lan IP addresses on DGND3300v2
I have a DGND3300v2 which I'd like to use as a wireless access point to another device and would like to know what I want to do is possible.
My laptop is connected to the main internet router with the IP address 192.168.1.x and I need to connect to a device with the IP range 192.168.254.x.
So, what I'm planning is to install an additional usb wifi adaptor with an IP address in the 12.168.254.x range and use the wired connection on the DGND3300v2 to connect to the device. I could then connect the usb wifi adaptor to the wifi on the DGND3300v2.
Firstly, is this possible and secondly if it is, then what is the confirguration of the DGND3300v2? Do I need separate IP ranges (one for the wifi and one for the LAN connection)?
Thanks

Re: Different wifi and lan IP addresses on DGND3300v2
All these Netger consumer routers are supporting one IP subnet only, no way to wsplit LAN and WLAN to dedicated VLANs or the like.
Strongly suggest to renumber the (one?) IP to the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet.

Re: Different wifi and lan IP addresses on DGND3300v2
How can I change my laptop adaptor to a /24 subnet? When I look at the adaptor properties, I find that the 192.168.1.0 address and subnet is assigned automatically by a router.
Can I just change the subnet or do I need tohave a static IP address in order for me to change the subnet?

Not sure this is what you want - at least not at the end of the day. Is the idea to have an address in the other subnet so you can re-configure that other device?
On Windows for example you owuld have to teporary put a static IP address from that other subnet in place.

I agree.
This whole discussion might work better if you provided an accurate,
detailed description of your equipment, and how it's connected, and
tried to describe the actual problems which you are trying solve, rather
than asking how to implement some particular "solution" (like, say, "I
need to connect to a device with the IP range 192.168.254.x") which may
or may not make much sense.

Huh? Any such network interface typically has one IP address, not a
whole subnet. None of your description of what you wish to do (or how
you expect to do it) makes any sense to me.
