Fail to switch RSP

Fail to switch RSP

G'day. I'm in Australia, have a working FTTN NBN connection (until this morning that is).

Decided to change from Optus to Superloop. Did all that online, in just a few minutes.

But Superloop didn't come online. The usual LEDs are on, especially the DSL LED. But the Internet light is hard on orange.

Long discussion with Superloop support, included resetting the D7000. No Change. Very patient young lady said she could see the line was syncing (hence the white DSL LED I presume), but the modem wasn't authenticating. All Internet configs checked multiple times (and they're almost all the same as my previous RSP anyway).

Before I go to Netgear support (or something more drastic), anyone come across this before?

D7000[v1] or D7000v2?  Look for "Model" on the product label.
Firmware version?

PPPoE?  Special character(s) in the credentials?

What, exactly, does "All Internet configs" mean to you?

Product label on the bottom says:

Netgear Nighthawk
AC1900 Wifi VDSL/ADSL modem router
Model: D7000

Firmware version?

Firmware Version
V1.0.1.78_1.0.1

I believe that is current, I do check occasionally and update when applicable.

No credentials. Connection uses DHCP.

The settings on the page titled "Internet Setup", starting:

Select Country
Select Internet Service Provider

Discussed all these settings with the RSP support person...

"Does your Internet connection require a login?" and use of DHCP are
independent of each other.

I wasn't there for that discussion.  Presumably, the ISP knows what's
required.

NBN seems to be designed to frustrate people. Getting stuff to work on NBN can be a nightmare.

The problem is that NBN comes in many flavours, effectively it just means "Australian Internet".

What is an NBN network and is my NETGEAR DSL modem router compatible? | Answer | NETGEAR Support

While Netgear lists all manner of things as being "compatible" with NBN in that article, in reality this often means that the device will work as a router. You have to bypass the modem bit and use something else as a modem. Sometimes it is just the NBN box that your ISP installed.

The good news is that a lot of people have already grappled with the challenge. So there's a lot of past experience that you can draw on:

Search - NETGEAR Communities – D7000 NBN

You can try narrowing that down by plugging the name of your ISP into the search. Some ISPs have especially exotic configurations.

Here's a good place to start looking for local expertise:

“NBN” - Whirlpool Forums

Remember, if you are transferring your modem/router from one type of NBN to another it is a good idea to reset the modem/router to that it forgets in past settings carried over from the old service.

Good luck, you may need it.
