Firmware won’t load

So I have just had NBN fixed wireless installed and wanted to keep my Netgear unit . It won’t connect and I can’t find all the settings that my service provider says that I should have ? I figure that I need to do a firmware update . I have a second separate internet connection ( shared house) so I downloaded the latest and set it to update , it goes through the motions and hangs at the end and times out . Nothing changed . What am I doing wrong ?? One of the setting I can’t find is conection priority ( should be at 0 )

Re: Firmware won’t load

The D6200v2 is a DSL modem/router. Unless you have DSL NBN, it will not work as the modem front end. You can bypass the modem bit and see if the The D6200v2 will work as a router, or you could see it if will operate as a wireless access point.

If you visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

you can feed in your model number and find the documentation for your hardware.

That's also the place to get the latest firmware.

How do I manually upgrade firmware to my NETGEAR router? | Answer | NETGEAR Support

Getting stuff to work on NBN can be a nightmare. The good news is that a lot of people have already grappled with the challenge. So there's a lot of past experience that you can draw on.

For example:

Search - NETGEAR Communities – D6300 NBN

Try your model number in there too.

You can also try narrowing that down by plugging the name of your ISP into the search. Some ISPs have especially exotic configurations.

The problem is that NBN comes in many flavours, effectively it just means "Australian Internet".

What is an NBN network and is my NETGEAR DSL modem router compatible? | Answer | NETGEAR Support

Start by checking for your type of NBN.

While Netgear lists all manner of things as being "compatible" with NBN in that article, in reality this often means that the device will work as a router. You have to bypass the modem bit and use something else as a modem. Sometimes it is just the NBN box that your ISP installed.

Good luck, you may need it.

Is that accurate?  Firmware version?  Connected to what?

> [...] I have just had NBN fixed wireless installed [...]

Was there some piece of equipment associated with this service (from
your unspecified ISP)?  Did you connect some part of the the D6200v2 to
some part of something else?

> [...] It won't connect [...]

"won't" is not a useful problem description. It does not say what
you did.  It does not say what happened when you did it.  As usual,
showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.

> [...] I can't find all the settings that my service provider says that
> I should have ? [...]

The non-psychics in your audience might not be able to see "all the
settings that [your] [unspecified] service provider" provided to not all
of us.

> [...] I figure that I need to do a firmware update . [...]

   Based on what?

> [...] I downloaded the latest [...]

As always, an actual version number would be more useful than your
opinion of what's "the latest" today.

> [...] set it to update [...]

See "not a useful problem description [...]", above.

> [...] it goes through the motions [...]

Which "the motions" might those be?

> [...] What am I doing wrong ?? [...]

   What are you doing?

> [...] One of the setting I can't find is conection priority ( should
> be at 0 )

"conection" to what?  Sounds inconsequential, but more (some) actual
information might be interesting.
