Handover beetween WNDR3700 and DGND3700
Hi!
I have two routers:
Netgear WNDR3700 and DGND3700 (N600).
I have both of them acting as AP. my Router is a huwei LTE connection in the network addressed 192.168.1.1
wifi both at the netgears:
WPA2 AES, same SSID, same password, channel 1 and 6. both fixed ip's (192.168.1.150 and 192.168.1.151).
DHCP is my huawei LTE Router.
Problem:
If i make a handover beetween WNDR3700 to DGND3700 I have a full established WIFI connection, but no Internet access...
I am using android 6 clients.
I cannot use any internal IP Adresses or external web resources.
after 1-2 min. all works on my android phone.
I connected both netgears not via WAN.
All notebooks and PCs on LAN ports have always internet connection.
Please help.
thanks,
Klaus
Hallo,
besitze zwei Router im Netz:
- Netgear WNDR3700
- Netgear DGND3700 (N600).
- WLAN WPA2 AES - gleiche SSID wie DGND3700 Kanal 1
- NG-Mixed, Mode AP
WNDR3700 config:
- ddwrt
- fixe IP (192.168.1.150).
DGND3700 (N600)
- keine WAN Einstellung
- Fixe IP (192.168.1.151).
- WLAN WPA2 AES - gleiche SSID wie WNDR3700 Kanal 6
- Mode: Up to 300Mbit
- selbes Kennwort wie WDNR3700
gemeinsamer Gateway: 192.168.1.1 im Haus
Problem:

Re: Handover beetween WNDR3700 and DGND3700
Do you have them daisy chained or does each netgear connect directly to the huwei (which I would guess is the way it should be). If you're daisy chained, have you verified that NAT is off on both of them? That's all I got.

Re: Handover beetween WNDR3700 and DGND3700
both of the netgears connect via a simple switch to the huawei gateway.
dgnd3700 has its original firmware, the other ddwrt.
On dgnd3700 I have no WAN Port configured. The only "use NAT" checkbox is under WAN config, and not marked...

Re: Handover beetween WNDR3700 and DGND3700
how can I use the WAN Port for internet connection, and also using internal IP on the router (same subnet) to get on my LAN Clients internet connection too ?
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
All other clients have 192.168.1.x addresses.
It always says ip conflict if I try to configure same subnet for internal ip and wan ip.
thanks,

Re: Handover beetween WNDR3700 and DGND3700
Do you have AP Mode enabled on your dgnd3700? I think the option is somewhere in Advanced wireless settings. AP Mode transforms the WAN port into a LAN port, so it's usable.

Re: Handover beetween WNDR3700 and DGND3700
I'm running the Richud firmware referenced in this thread
So my interface is different from the stock Netgear interface. That being said it should be in Advanced -> Internet Setup. In the section where it says "Does your internet connection require a login" click the "No" button. You then have a option to put the router in Bridge mode. Then just verify that DHCP and NAT are shut off. I would guess you already have done this along with having your DGND3700v1 set up with a static IP.

Ahh, dgnd3700v1 probably doesn't have it. In that case, carry on with using a LAN port. You should make sure the WAN port is not configured with a conflicting subnet.
I'm am a loss why your Android device can't access the Internet for 2 minutes. Does this happen with other devices, like a wireless laptop? Are you able to ping the Huawei router during these 2 minutes? Does the device still have an IP address?

Re: Handover beetween WNDR3700 and DGND3700
Does a ping from the notebook to the Huawei router also fail?
Are you certain that a handover from the WNDR3700 to the DGND3700 occurred? Or is there a possibility that you are still joined to the WNDR3700 during those 2 minutes?
Have you tried removing the switch? I wonder if it's having trouble dealing with sudden migration of the device from one port to another?

Re: Handover beetween WNDR3700 and DGND3700
Hannover is shown in an WiFi App (Seen by MAC and Channel).
I tried another Router instead of dgnd3700 (n300 with ddwrt) All worked...
Is there a Firewall Problem? I only Can deactivate at wan settings ( nat too)

Re: Handover beetween WNDR3700 and DGND3700
The firewall is between the WAN and LAN on routers. You are not using the WAN port on the dgnd3700, so the firewall should not be a factor.
Here is an interesting thread involving another vendor. The thread mentions two issues:
- When roaming from AP 1 to AP 2, AP 1 fails to flush its MAC table. Other clients connected to AP 1 fail to communicate with the device that has roamed to AP 2. I don't think this is your problem.
- When roaming from AP 1 to AP 2, the switch in the middle fails to notice migration of the MAC address. Things start working after the switch has aged out the MAC address. I suspected this could be affecting you, which is why I suggested that you remove the switch in the middle.
It sounds like the dgnd3700 is behaving differently than the N300 router with ddwrt. Perhaps the dgnd3700 is not sending out a gratuitous ARP, which would be one way of advertising the migration of the device. There's also 802.11r, but I do not believe it's widely supported.
You could try using Wireshark to compare the behavior between the dgnd3700 and the N300 router running ddwrt.

Don't know if you'd be interested in the Richud firmware I mentioned in my previous post, but one of the features of that firmware is to be able to re-assign the WAN port as another LAN port. The Richud firmware also has the ability to set the WAN port to Bridged and you can then set the IP, Gateway, Subnet Mask and DNS IP's.

Re: Handover beetween WNDR3700 and DGND3700
The download link is in the first entry of the thread I put a link to. The link in that thread will take you to Richud.com where the firmware download link is. Yes, you can go back to the Netgear firmware if you want, but I can't imagine why you'd want to.

Re: Handover beetween WNDR3700 and DGND3700
ok, I alredy installed richud firmware.
I found the option to pass the wan port to another lan port.
Same problems occur at the moment. my LAN Connection is not on the WAN Port plugged at the moment!

Re: Handover beetween WNDR3700 and DGND3700
same problems at the moment.
I tried wireshark, and found this:
After handover to the dgnd3700 WLAN network, my client always sends ARP Broadcast Messages as follows:
Who has 192.168.1.1 ? Tell 192.168.1.10 (my client IP at the moment).
the gateway is not responding for a couple of minutes.
Then the Huawei Gateway sends: 192.168.1.1 is at c8:51:......
After that my client starts sending DNS Requests, and gets the answer immediately, and from this moment on the internet connection works fine.
