For those of you wanting to connect your Netgear Nighthawk X4S D7800 modem to an iinet NBN HFC service then please follow these instructions.th

1. Make sure your NBN Connection Box is connected to the HFC cable socket in your wall, and that the NBN Connection Box has an ethernet (WAN) cable connecting it to the Netgear modem, and the NBN Connection Box is powered on. You should see solid green lights on the NBN box.
2. Factory reset your modem - just to be sure. (Use a paperclip and hold the reset switch on the back for a min of 7 secs.)
3. Connect to the modem via Wifi (or ethernet cable, if you prefer) using default SSID settings.
4. Login to modem by opening internet browser and navigating to: http://www.routerlogin.net/
5. Once logged in to your modems admin panel, click the "Advanced" tab, then click the "Setup" menu button, then click "WAN Setup"
6. In the "WAN Setup" screen, select "Must use Ethernet WAN" as "WAN Preference". Leave all other settings as default. Then click "Apply" and wait for system to reset.
7. Under the menu button "Setup" click "Internet Setup".
8. On the "Internet Setup" page select the following:
- Select Country: Australia
- Select Internet Service Provider: Other . (**note - do NOT select iinet !!)
- Enable This Interface - checked (yes)
- Use VLANID: 2
- Priority: 0
- Does your Internet connection require a login? Yes
- Internet Service Provider: PPPoE
- Login: [use your iinet login - for example - fredblogss@iinet.net.au]
- Password: [use your iinet password]
- Service Name: [leave blank]
- Connection Mode: Always On
- Idle Timeout (In minutes): 5
- Internet IP Address: Get Dynamically from ISP
- Domain Name Server (DNS) Address: Use These DNS Servers

(Note: "Get Automatically from ISP" also seems to work.
- Router MAC Address: Use Default Address
9. Click "Apply".
If all goes well, you should see all white lights displayed on your modem!
