N300 introducing long delays - setup advice
I have a Netgear DGN2200v4. I don't want it even to try to connect to the Internet, but there doesn't seem to be an option in setup to say so. Its _only_ task is to provide a wireless LAN connection between multiple devices (a PC and several Android tablets) all of which will be located in the same room.
My problem is that although it's working, it is introducing huge delays on the initial access from an Android device to a shared folder on the PC. When I first attempt to open a remote file, there is a forty second delay before the open request completes. Thereafter, all subsequent network operations from the same process are completed quickly and efficiently.
However, as soon as any new process attempts to access the share, I am seeing the forty second delay again.
Questions: is there any way to tell this router not to attempt to connect to the Internet?
Should I be specifying a static IP and, if so, what value? What about DNS, NAT etc.?
Can anyone suggest why I am seeing this forty second delay (which renders the whole system unusable)? What can it possibly be doing in this time? I have tried using a number of other (borrowed) routers and no other device exhibits the same problem.
