"AC1900" is a speed, not a model number.  Look for "Model" on the
product label.  Firmware version?

   Nothing to do with anything?

How "minor" was it, would you say, if it caused your service to stop
working?

> [...] now the internet light is amber, everything else is white, [...]

"everything else", or just those parts of "everything else" which you
consider significant?  (And who else knows what those might be?)  What
does the DSL indicator indicate?  (Or ADVANCED > ADVANCED Home :
Internet Port : Show Statistics : Link Rate (et c.))

Mb/s?  "upgraded" from what to what, exactly?

It depends.  If your new CenturyLink service uses a bonded pair of
lines, then your Netgear modem(+router), whatever it is, would be
useless.

If your modem+router is configured incorrectly (PPPoA v. PPPoE, or
any number of DSL-related parameters), then that could cause trouble.
But I know nothing about your old configuration or your new one.  Or
what CenturyLink told you about either.

Firmware defects in many Netgear models cause problems with special
characters in PPP credentials.  But, again, I can't see what you're
doing, before or after.  Or if such parameters have changed with this
"minor upgrade".

As a first step, if bonded lines are not involved, I might try a
settings reset, and let the set-up wizard try to puzzle out the proper
DSL settings.

What modem is this? Netgear makes about half a dozen AC1900 modems, cable and DSL.
