Re: Netgear D7000
Flashing = traffic.
There is a manual for the D7000 somewhere at the end of this link:
>>> D7000 | Product | Support | NETGEAR <<<
Check the section "Troubleshoot With the LEDs".

And "amber" = what, exactly?
According to the D7000[v1] User Manual, the Internet LED
possibilities are:
o Solid white. The modem router detected an Internet connection.
o Solid amber. The modem router is not connected to a DSL, cable,
or fiber modem, or the modem router did not detect an Internet
connection.
For more information, see Troubleshoot the Internet Connection
on page 279.
o Blinking white. Data is being transmitted over the Internet
connection.
o Alternating white and amber. The traffic meter is enabled and
the traffic limit is reached.
o Off. The modem router cannot connect to the Internet or the
Internet connection failed. For more information, see Internet
LED Is Off on page 280.
I don't see "flashes amber" in that list. Who do you want to
believe, the User Manual, or your own lying eyes?
"very warm" is not a well-defined quality/quantity. Mine is barely
above ambient. Do you have any USB devices connected to it?
