HI Guys.
wondering if i can get some help i was recent given the D7800 router modem and works very well apart from the 2.4GHZ whuch drops off every few days, so ive been out and bought the XR500 and now have this connected to a separate modem and is absolutley brillaint.
Question is the modem i am using is a. Technicolour tg589 V2 and i would like to use the D7800 as the modem instead simple reason it syncs 10 meg higher than the Technicolour.
Now i have tried different verirations and can get the D7800 into modem mode and does show sync the issue is when i configure the XR500 for Auth its not detecting any settings, ive also tested this in a fritz box 7530 with the same issues, ive also tested each port on the D7800 to be on the safe side and still cannot get anywere.
Next step was to test with pppoe this was done from all ports to and fails, can anyone shed any light on this to what maybe causing the issue or is it this particular modem router just doesnt like to be in modem mode only, firmware is upto date also and a good few factory reset and alternate cables tested.
Thanks will be greatfull for any help on this.

That's with the D7800 connected to your DSL service? And how,
exactly, was it configured?

That's a little vague.

How, exactly? On my D7000[v1], the option is ADVANCED > Advanced
Setup > Device Mode. I didn't see that option in the D7800 User Manual.

So, a good DSL physical link?

What, exactly, does "configure for Auth" mean to you?
> [...] its not detecting any settings, [...]
Now that we know what is NOT happening, perhaps you might reveal
what, exactly, _did_ happen. What are you seeing?

Does your ISP use PPPoE? Did you configure PPPoE on the D7800 when
it was working as a modem+router?
"all ports"???
PPPoE must be configured on the router. If you're using the D7800 as
a modem only, then the PPPoE configuration would be on the XR500.
> [...] firmware is upto date [...]
As always, an actual version number would be more useful than your
opinion of what's "up to date" today.
