Netgear dm200 and xr500

Hi all need some advice as I’ve set up the dm200 and link my xr500 to it with a Ethernet cable.
But when I put the dm200 in to modem only mode I can’t seem to get internet connection on the xr500 but all the lights on the dm200 are green. But get internet to the xr500 when the dm200 is in modem/router mode but then having issues with double Nat.
Do you no if there’s something I’m missing in the settings on the dm200 thanks

The non-psychics in your audience know nothing about how you
configured your DM200 to work with your (unspecified) ISP.  If, for
example, you use PPPoE, then I'd suggest that you specify those settings
on the router when the DM200 is in modem-only mode.  I'd certainly
expect to need to reconfigure the Internet settings on the router after
a change like that to the DM200.

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your router model number,
and look for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Look for "Specify
Your Internet Settings".

Ok thanks.
My isp is bt I set up the dn200 with the genie putting in my isp email and password connects up perfectly. But before I put the dm200 into modem only mode is there any settings you have to change before I do that cheers. Will have a look at that link when I get home later and put my model number as I haven’t got it on me at the moment thanks

I don't know _where_ you put them.

You may not need to change the settings in the DM200, but you may
need to add/change some settings in the X500 router, if those settings
had been used by the router section of the DM200, and the XR500 router
needs to use them when the router section of the DM200 is disabled.

   It's not "XR500"?

Nothing special needed.

Just disconnect the router, connect your PC to the DM200, go into the browser graphical user interface (GUI) for the DM200.

While you are there, ensure that you have the latest firmware for the DM200. (Getting in there later is a bugger because you can't sneak up on it through the GUI in the XR500.) You might find it easier to download the latest firmware ahead of time so that you can run a manual update before you do the mode change.

After you've confirmed that, just find the bit in the GUI that tells it to go into modem only mode.

When you have done that, restart the network in the usual way:

  • Turn off and unplug the modem.
  • Turn off the modem router and computers.
  • Plug in the modem and turn it on. Wait 2 minutes.
  • Turn on the modem router and wait 2 minutes.
  • Turn on the computers.

When everything is turned off, plug the XR500 into the DM200 and connect your PC to the router. Then get onto the boot cycle.

As the network reboots, you should be able to get into the GUI for the XR500 and set it up to connect to BT. It is a while since I did that, but the "genie" bit of the GUI may also connect to BT automagically.

I played with the XR500's GUI interface when testing DumaOS on the R7800 hardware, so I can't swear to that last bit. The R7800 is now running as an R7800.

Hang on to the DM200. New ones are now impossible to find.

Glad it worked out. For the benefit of later victims, can you tell us what worked for you?

Was it the restart?
