New dsl modem/wifi unit will not connect to internet
No internet, internet light is non-existent. Is the problem with the standard phone plugin to the router?
Do I need to get an adaptor to change a standard phone plugin, to an ethernet plugin? or is this unit defective?

Firmware version? What is connected to what? New installation, or
replacement for some other device, or what? ISP? Service type (DSL or
some other)? Does your ISP (DSL?) service involve a user name and
password? Any other useful information?

What do _all_ the LEDs indicate? Does "non-existent" mean "dark", or
does an Internet LED actually not exist on your D6200v2?
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least). Read. Look for the
LED descriptions and "Troubleshoot".

I don't know what "the standard phone plugin to the router" means to
you. Are you trying to describe a port on the D6200v2, or a port on
your wall, or a cable, or what?
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual (at least). Read. Note that
the connectors have names, and the instructions say which to use for
what.

I hope not, because I know of no such adapter. What, exactly, are
you doing? Trying to connect an RJ11 telephone/DSL connector to an
(RJ45) Ethernet port, or what?
> [...] or is this unit defective?
So far, I'd suspect the user. (But, connecting a standard telephone
line to an Ethernet port is not a move which I'd suggest.)
