Nighthawk D7000 2.4Ghz Wifi does not exist
Hi all,
I've read around forums and noticed a lot of people having issues with their 2.4Ghz connection.
My issue is slightly different, in that it is not visible at all to any of my devices. The router says that it is working and I have tried changing the channel and speed settings, all to no avail.
Currently, 5Ghz is my only option. I have updated to the latest firmware and the problem persists. Any support would be great.

An actual version number would be more useful than your opinion of
what's "the latest" today.

How, exactly, does the router express that that evaluation? As
usual, showing actual actions with their actual results (error messages,
LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague descriptions or
interpretations. What do your LED indicators indicate?

"Exists" and "visible" are spelled differently for a reason. BASIC >
Wireless : Wireless Network (2.4GHz b/g/n) : Enable SSID Broadcast ?

(2.4GHz b/g/n) : Enable Wireless Router Radio ?
ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > Wireless Settings : Wireless Settings
(2.4GHz b/g/n) : Turn off wireless signal by schedule ?
How many different devices have you tried to connect to the router
using the 2.4GHz radio? (And what were a few of them?)
I've noticed no particular problems with 2.4GHz connections (mostly
Internet-of-Junk devices) on my D7000[v1] (V1.0.1.64_1.0.1).
Have you tried a settings reset (and manual reconfiguration)?
You could have a hardware problem, too.

Looks like the Netgear community are just as bad as the routers.
I’d sooner send it back than ask for anymore help. Grow up.

Try look at the settings antinode mentions below. Might be a simple fix i.e. enabling SSID broadcasting.
BASIC > Wireless : Wireless Network (2.4GHz b/g/n) : Enable SSID Broadcast.
ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > Wireless Settings : Wireless Settings\(2.4GHz b/g/n) : Enable Wireless Router Radio.
ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > Wireless Settings : Wireless Settings(2.4GHz b/g/n) : Turn off wireless signal by schedule.

Re: Nighthawk D7000 2.4Ghz Wifi does not exist
Hi,
Thanks for our suggestions.
Sadly, Enable SSID Broadcast is ticked and both settings in ADVANCE are set correctly - enabled and not turn off by schedule.
Advanced > Home, shows both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz working with green ticks next to them, but when trying to connect using a laptop ro PC, the option to join the 2.4Ghz connection just doesn't exist.
There are forum discussions relating to Chromecasts messing up the connectivety to 2.4Ghz but nothing about it disappearing completely. I've turned my chromecast off and it doesn't seem to be making any difference.
Are there any other obvious settings that may be causing this or is this likely to be a hardware fault?
Other options are downgrading Firmware. Current firmare is V1.0.1.66_1.0.1.
Thanks
Timmeh.

Re: Nighthawk D7000 2.4Ghz Wifi does not exist
I see. That is annoying. Maybe the the wifi service needs to be restarted manually. However, this should be done when a soft reset is undertaken.
Maybe try disabling the service via the router itself i.e. pressing the wifi on/off button for two seconds will turn both the 2.4 GHZ and 5GHz broadcast on and off - wait until the LED is off then restart accordingly.
In regards to hardware issues, I am not 100% sure but I would think that both wifi radios would be having problems if this is the case... Let us know how you go.
