Nighthawk D7000 Slow WiFi speed

Hi having trouble with wifi download speed, had this problem for a while and my ISP couldn't really come up with a solution but suggested my Nightwhawk R7000 was on the way out, so I replaced it with a new D7000.  Things were good I was getting 96mbps on wired connection and around the 80mbps on wifi which is great.  Now I am back to fluctuating download speeds anywhere between 12mbps and 50mbps.  Has got to the stage that Netflix wont run because of the speed.

Anyone with any suggestions.

PS both the R7000 and now the D7000 has intermitent drop outs have to reset the router about every second day. New D7000 is only three months old.

D7000 or D7000v2?  Look at the product label.  Firmware version?
(Which firmware version on the R7000?)

   Wired or wireless?

   Why get a DSL modem+router like a D7000 to replace a (modem-less)
router like an R7000?

ISP is Internode

D7000

Replaced the R7000 with D7000 because only one in the shop to choose from (rual area)

Wired is fine only wifi problem

Yes, but the D7000 is a modem/router.

The R7000 is a router.

You cannot replace the D7000 with an R7000 unless you have a modem of some sort between the internet and your R7000.

If you have the two together, D7000 as a modem followed by the R7000, then it is probably a good idea to read the bit in the manual Use the Modem Router as a DSL Modem Only. Maybe you did that. You don't say.

What are you using to view Netflix? Finding a way to use a wired connection between that device and your router will eliminate wifi issues.

That should rule out any modem-related trouble.

Faulty router?  Two faulty routers may be unlikely.)

   Faulty (unspecified) client device?

Radio interference from other devices?  Change the channel(s)?

Well, duh.  A) You can if you're not using the modem, and B) What
about replacing an R7000 with a D7000?

Which part of "Replaced" was unclear?

Sorry, internet has been down for 3 days.  Replaced the R7000 with a D7000 but still having the same issues with speed.  Do I buy a non Netgear router?

Re: Nighthawk D7000 Slow WiFi speed

I'm afraid that there are so many gaps in the information we have about your setup that it is anybody's guess as to what is going on.

First we have a D7000, then an R7000, now a different (?) D7000.

Then there are those speed tests. Wired? Wifi? Using what? Through which speed test site?

Another gap is in the firmware version on whatever you are using.

It does not help that you write in "telegram", leaving us to fill in the gaps.

What does this mean:

Apart from the lack of punctuation, what disconnected? You? The  modem/router? Whatever it is you are using to test the speeds?

If the Ethernet delivers 90 Mbps, what is your Internet speed supposed to be?

Throw in that confusion about R7000 and D7000, and you can see that it is not easy to unravel what is hapening here.

Didn't think there was any confusion I replaced an R7000 with a D7000.

Also didn't realise punctuation affected your download speed!

Again, your failure to provide useful information is an obstacle to troubleshooting.
