Nighthawk D70000 and EE broadband

I have been using the original router provided by EE for a long time, last week my internet cut out, all lights lit up but internet light flashing. Had a engineer out, he checked all the lines and said it was a broken router. Went out today and got a Nighthawk D7000, trying to get it set up, but it’s doing the same thing, the light for the internet just stays red, but all the others a lit up white. I tried to get in the router via IP but I get a login in screen for tp-link. I am completely lost now, I don’t know what to do.

Typed in the device description for the tp device turns out the hub link, removed but now when I  type in ip there is no response. So there seems to be no way to connect to the nighthawk router. I phone EE, they are sending another of their own routers, but I get the feeling it will have the exact same result. Apparently they will send out a specialist technician if that happens. I just don’t understand how an engineer can test the connections and say everything is fine, but then a Nighthawk fresh out the box is having the same issue as my supposedly broken old router.

What is the actual model number of this thing?

Not a very detailed description of anything.  Maker?  Model?

   Which "IP"?  Which "tp-link"?

Imagine what it's like for the non-psychics in yout audience who
can't see your equipment, or what you're doing, or what you're seeing.

I don't know what that means.

Again, what is "ip"?  Are you typing this into a web browser, or
what?  Are you getting some actual error message?  As usual, showing
actual actions with their actual results (error messages, LED
indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague descriptions or
interpretations.

When "fresh out the box", your new router may need to be configured
with details/parameters for your DSL connection.  Possibly also
details/parameters for your LAN.  Having no information about what you
actually did, it's hard to be specific.  Some of these data might be
extracted from your (unspecified) "the original router".

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your actual model number,
and look for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Read.

Re: Nighthawk D70000 and EE broadband

It’s a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 WiFi vdsl/adsl modem router model D7000v2.
The original modem router was provided by the isp EE m, an EE brightbox.
I finally managed to log in the Netgear router via my computer, I attempted to run the Netgear setup, but it states that it can’t decect an internet connection. The internet is via phone line as there is no fibre available near me. The phones line still work fine. The BT engineer that came to check for faults stated that the connect was working. I have spent most of the day reading manuals and searching around online trying to find an answer. I understand a new router would need setting up properly, but I just found it strange that the EE brightbox would suddenly be unable to connect to the internet and that a new router would show the same symptoms. At the moment I am waiting for EE to send out a new Brightbox router.

A broken wire would stop both voice and data, but there are many ways
to stop data without affecting voice.

Can we assume that there were no wiring changes (new phones, DSL
filters removed, ...)?

I'll admit that that's suspicious, but I don't know what your "The BT
engineer" actually measured, or how any of these DSL modems is
configured, so my wisdom is limited (more than usual, probably).  Bad
DSL equipment at the Telco end could explain everything, and it does
happen.

That's something, but, as I assume you can see, the BASIC > Internet
page has quite a pile of DSL-related settings, and a wrong value for
almost any of them would stop your Internet connection.

If you go to ADVANCED > Advanced Home : Connection Status, do you get
any encouragement at all?  If your DSL LED is among the "all the others
a lit up white", then I'd expect "Negotiation  Success", at least.
Similarly, if the "Show Statistics" pop-up shows reasonable Link Rate
values, then that would suggest a good low-level DSL connection, and
then you may get to worry about things like your PPP Encapsulation and
credentials.

Re: Nighthawk D70000 and EE broadband

After multiple visits from different engineers and many many phone calls, turns out it was nothing to do with the lines or the routers, it was all due to an error with my isp, some how they messed up my account information, so the engineer had them rebuild the account. Once that was fixed, I then set up my new Netgear router using the set up wizard, no problems since then
