Nighthawk D7800 2.4gb Loses wifi connection

Hi,

Not posted on here before but would like some help or advice please.

I have a Nighthawk D7800 modem/router and now my 2.4Gb wifi channel has disconnected all devices that use it and wont allow them to re-connect.  I thought i had resolved this issue when i reset the router but unfortunately minutes later the same happened again.

All hard-wired devices still work fine as well as the 5Gb wifi channel.

I have tried to contact Netgear directly but despite still being within my hardware warranty apparently the support you have to subscribe to @ £74 per year (surely not!).

Model: D7800|Nighthawk X4S – AC2600 WiFi VDSL/ADSL Modem Router

Is 2.4GHz still broadcasting i.e. it is enabled in Wireless Settings and LED displays solid wihite?  Have you tried changing the broadcast channel to see if the probelm persists?  Are you on the latest firmware?

Thank you for the reply,

Yes the 2.4gb is still broadcasting. All the relevant white lights are on (power, internet, 2.4 & 5gb wifi).

I am on the latest firmware.

I have tried changing the channels which does work for a while. This is how im currently making a do of it. Once it kicks every device off i am just changing channel again which can give me up to half a day before the oroblem persists again.

Do the logs don’t offer any clues? How many devices are we talking? Do static IP addresses stay connected?

I only have my devices connected via 5GHz so that they are not impacted by neighbourhood interference.

Additionally, what speed have you set the 2.4GHz too??? If set to the highest try reduce and see if it improves...

Yeah played with the speed on the 2.4gb channel with no improvements.

Id say that there are around 15 devices connected to it.

Can try reserve an IP address for one of the devices and see if that stays connected - say 192.168.1.100 and up.

An actual version number would be more useful than your opinion of
what's "the latest" today.

A static address is configured on the device itself; a reserved
dynamic address is configured on the router (DHCP server).  Both are (or
should be) fixed/reliable.

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Look for "Address
Reservation".
