Nighthawk X4S D7800 firmware issues

Hi,

I am a non techo person.

My Modem said there was a new update, so I selected it.

After apparently finishing the update, the Modem then just flashed with a white light (first led on the left which is normally just stays fully on. The message says that the firmware is corrupted, so I can not use the modem, I tried a factory reset, but the light still flashes and the modem is not visible to my laptop. Which is a MacAir running Mojave.

I installed my old modem and was able to download the latest firmware onto my Mac.

However I can not connect to the modem to do the update, the Mac does not have an ethernet port, though I do have an adapter, but do not know how to attach it.

I tried the browser login, but it just says no internet connection.

Help please, as the old modem is very slow, which is the reason I bought the D7800, the 90 day period expired a year ago so Netgear support has expired.

Regards

Bill

   Which "The message"?

Only one of us has seen your "an adapter", but I'd bet that there are
installation instructions for it somewhere.

You may be a candidate for the TFTP recovery scheme.  See, for
example:

You'll need something with an Ethernet port to do that.

Thank you that worked

Netgeargenie says that "this function is only available when your PC wireless adapter is turned on" (see screen shot), when trying to view the network channels used.

I use a Mac, and Wifi is operational, any thoughts please?

Bill

   That's good news.

I have no idea.  I've never tried any of the Netgear Genie apps
anywhere.  For my D7000[v1], I stick to the web-browser interface.  I
don't need any of the extra functionality which the apps might provide,
and, for the stuff which I do, judging from the quality of the firmware
on their routers, I wouldn't expect any better results from any app from
Netgear.
