Nighthawk x6 8000 gateway invalid

I've owned a Nightwawk x6 R8000 for over a year now and haven't had any problems until recently. I was trying to connect a laptop to Wifi and it's all gone down hill slowly and now I can't even get internet from gateway . I have my laptop plugged directly in and with the Genie its try's to fix it but says gateway not valid . DSL not found. Problems started after reset. HELP

After doing another scan with genie to double check my errors it reads adapter:Intel(R)CentrineAdvanced-N625AGN Failed

wireless radio on 

cannot test DNS

DCHP sever doesn't work

 cannot fix DNS

gateway invalid

That message is from a modem, not the R8000.

What is the modem in front of the router?

Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:

• Turn off and unplug modem.
• Turn off router and computers.
• Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
• Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it connect.
• Turn on computers and rest of network.
