Opening Nat types
I got this new router a week ago and had a problem with it being on strict. But the next day everything went to open and everything was running fine but the next day after that everything went back to strict and now preventing me from playing with friends on Xbox. I have tried switching it on and doing the VPnP settings and nothing worked so I have no idea how to fix it or turn the VPnP to open.

Hello,
Are you on Firmware update 1.0.4.46? Also, are you sure you have the R8000 or do you actually have the R8000P?

Re: Opening Nat types
UPNP is broken on the latest firmware for the R8000.
You'll need to either:
A. Roll the router's firmware back to the previous version that UPNP worked on v1.0.4.28
B. Give your XBox a static IP address and setup port forwarding.
C. Return it and get something that isn't broken out of the box.
(This current firmware came out in August and we havent seen any acknoledgement of the problem from Netgear community members, so I'd go with option C. if I was you)
