Recommend dsl modem
Bought Netgear ac1750
Oops I forgot the modem.
Have been using actiontec c1000a for 5 years(?) which has been needing reset frequently, has a sketchy power connection (power cuts out easily when touched) and simply drops WiFi a lot.
Probably wasting my time if I try to use the actiontec modem function right?
Household use:
1 game console on a powerline adapter (will prioritize QoS in router settings once get it going)
1 or 2 devices may be streaming YouTube at once. 3 rarely.
(ps no landline phone.)
So not a super heavy demand, but needs stability (which actiontec isn't handling well)
Please recommend a modem!
Budget is somewhat tight, but I don't want to bottleneck at the modem, or have to replace it in a year.
already bought the Netgear ac1750 router- any other advice for setup/any advice is welcome
THANK YOU for taking the time to help and educate!

"AC1750" is a speed, not a model number. Ever helpful, Netgear
product packaging emphasizes speeds like "ACxxxx", but that's not the
model identifier. Look at the product label.

If you can keep the power connected, and CenturyLink says that it's
still compatible, and it can be configured in a modem-only mode, then
I'd run the experiment with the new router (whatever it is). If the
problems with the C1000A involve its router functions, then operating it
as only modem, it might not be so bad.

Re: Recommend dsl modem
There isn't much choice in the "modem only" area. You aren't asking it to do much, so go for the cheapest.
This is about it:
DM200 | DSL Modems & Routers | Networking | Home | NETGEAR
Not much point in buying a modem router and using it in modem-only mode.
