SLOW UPLOAD

NETGEAR D6400 - AC1600 WiFi VDSL/ADSL Modem Router Dual Band Gigabit

R6300v2 - V1.0.4.24_10.0.87

The upload speed not 100% near what it should be

We have checked with VirgIn Media Business that our 100Mb/100Mb leased line is working at full capacity and they assure us it is.

However no matter what settings we try on the Netgear [QOS, MMUM, etc... I have read lots of forums Posts here and elsewehere] The R6400 AC1600 Netgear refuses to go above 30Mb upload speed.

This is for wired ethernet, NOT WIFI [that is Off].

Any help or suggestions welcomed... thank you 🙂

Re: SLOW UPLOAD

Hi @jrpmedia,

Welcome to the community!

1. What is the model number of your device since the D6400, R6300v2, and R6400 are all mentioned on your post?

2. What is the firmware version?

3. Does the issue persist on all wired devices?

4. Is the download speed working at full?

5. Any steps you've taken so far (reset, change cables, change ports)?

Dexter

Re: SLOW UPLOAD

Not sure you read my post and it's title fully.
But here is that information again and the extra you requested.

1/ The Netgear Packaging an Interface are not easy to specify the Model FYI

R6300v2 - V1.0.4.24_10.0.87

3/ Yes, same for all devices on the network.

4/ Download is working at 98Mb of the possible 100Mb 🙂

5/ I have reset 3 times and reconfigured.
I have changed cables.
I have tried various.

I tried the original Firmware as it came when purchased, and up graded the Firmware at the time [see above]

I attach screenshots should anything be unclear.

Thank you.

I did. I saw that you also mentioned R6400 and R6300v2 in the title and the message.

Do you have these too?

Your screenshots are from R6300v2. Is that what you have?

Your screenshots also show that there is new firmware available.

The first thing that you can do is to update the firmware:

R6300v2 Firmware Version 1.0.4.34 | Answer | NETGEAR Support

As this is a router, it might also help if you told people what the modem is in front of this router. The model number could be useful. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?

If it does, then you may have two routers on the network, which could be the reason why your uploads speed are low.

By the way, it may not matter, but you have posted your message in the section of this community given over to DSL Modems. (This is easily done, given Netgear's impenetrable community structure.) Your device is a General WiFi Routers (Non-Nighthawk). This may explain why you could not pick your model number when you posted your question.

You might get better replies, and find other answers, over in the appropriate section:

General WiFi Routers (Non-Nighthawk) - NETGEAR Communities.

Re: SLOW UPLOAD

Thanks for your patience Michaelkenward,

So we only have the R6300v2.

It is atcahed diretly to the incoming DSL port supplied by Virgin Media Business, there is no other inline device on our premises, they have confirmed that.

I would rather not do a frimware update unless some Netgear TECH confirms 100% that it was designed to overcome our issue.

Having read other Posts, a firmware update can be a disaster as Netgear don't always check them well.

I'm not familiar with Virgin Media Business but I have yet to see a DSL connection that does not have a modem somewhere in the premises.

A quick look at the Virgin Media Business site suggests that it uses Hitron modems. It even has instructions on how to get one of these to work in "modem only" mode.

Dynamic Modem Only Mode User Guide | Virgin Media Business

That is one area where problems could hit your uploads speed.

Does the gadget with the "incoming DSL port" have other LAN ports? Does it also provide wifi?
