Settings Spontaneously Changed Without Warning

I have two VDSL lines, each serviced by a DM200.
Yesterday, my internet connection went down.
I subsequently discovered the settings on each had somehow become changed:
- One DM200 had reverted to factory default.
- The other had lost its VLANID.
- The region on each was erroneously set as 'Switzerland'.
How could this even be possible?
Has anyone else experienced similar?

After ruling-out 'black magic' the ONLY answer must be third-party interference i.e. I've been hacked.
The modem fully 'reset' has a static IP address; from there the second modem 'partially reset; is listed in 'attached devices' identifiable by its given name prefix 'DM200'.
I believe there is a weakness on the modem's public-facing side, which has been exploited.
Is there a way to bring this to Netgear's attention?
