Using DM200 as a modem with R8000 Nightawk
Hi,
I'm with Vodafone UK on their fibre network. I dont have stable internet and the speeds vary all the time.
In their forum, Vodafone customers have suggessted to use third party products, so in that case I've using a DM200 as a model and a R8000 as a router and wifi.
The issue is in the DM200 settings, if I select "Router (modem and router)", i can get it to work, however I just want to use the device a a modem. If I click modem, my internet stops working. I've tried Modem only and Modem only with the passthrough vlan.
Any suggestions?
thanks

It should just be modem only.
Get the thing working on its own in that mode, without the router connected.
When you have done that, reset the R8000 to factory settings. Then go through the correct start-up process. Do things in the right order.
- Turn off and unplug modem.
- Turn off router and computers.
- Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
- Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it connect.
- Turn on computers and rest of network.
This is where people often go wrong.
I have a DM200 running in front of the R7800 on BT.
While you are setting up the DM200, check for new firmware. It is easier to do it then than later, when you have to faff around with IP addresses.
