Using VPN client with nighthawk d7000 v2

Hey guys, I've been using my d7000 for a year or so and it works well. I've recently purchased a few new devices and as such now looking to run a vpn over my home network. Previous posts are a few years old and mostly mention that the d7000 is incompatible for use with VPN clients. I was wondering whether anyone is using the router with a VPN client, all advice and feedback will be super-appreciated

Hi, I’m using a vpn with this router and have no issues at all. I did not configure the router options for vpn instead used the vpn supporting app. This is installed on all devices that I wish to use the vpn. In addition, my wife uses a separate vpn for work which also does not present any issues. Https.
