WI-FI routers
Hi, I'm having trouble getting the spectrum cable modem to patch through to the D6400. Followed all the instru to the T but still cannot get internet. is there any thing i'm not doing or is the D6400 just not compatible? The mannual says that it is, I turn off cable modem and wi-fi router to plug in cables and then turn everything back. All the lights come up except internet, had the teky to turn on the bypass switch to modem also and still nothing. Please help if you can thanks

That wasn't the question. Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in
the model number, and look for Documentation. Get the User Manual.
Read. Look for "Set Up Your Modem Router for Cable or Fiber Service".

What, exactly, is your "the spectrum cable modem"?
> [...] to patch through to the D6400.
What, exactly, does that mean to you? What, exactly, did you connect
to what, exactly? (Hint: If a device has multiple Ethernet ports, then
"connected to device" is not enough detail.)

"Followed all" _which_ "the instru"?
> [...] had the teky to turn on the bypass switch to modem [...]
What, exactly, does that mean to you? Was your (unspecified) "the
spectrum cable modem" a modem+router which is now configured as a
modem-only, or what? Is the D6400 new, or did it come from some other
environment? Have you reset its settings, and started it afresh?
You might ask your ISP if they need specifically to allow the MAC
address of the D6400.

Re: WI-FI routers
The spectrum tech turned on the brigde switch he said would allow the modum to connect to the D6400 to have wi-fi.
I've followed everything he said and netgear's manual said to do and nothing. The router is not new have had it for a while and it has worked with DSL' just wondering if it's router or spectrum which you probably coulden't give me an answer on that part of it?

Re: WI-FI routers
There is a manual for the D6400 somewhere at the end of this link:
>>>> D6400 | Product | Support | NETGEAR <<<<
See the section Set Up Your Modem Router for Cable or Fiber Service.
Another option is Use the Modem Router as a WiFi Access Point.
