What is Client Identifier String (Option 61)
Hello,
I am currently setting up my Netgear DM200 VDSL/ADSL Modem, and on the second screen of the Netgear genie there is a certain field that I don’t understand. I was wondering what is a Client Identifier String, and option 61?

I know nothing, but a Web search might tell you at least as much as I
gleaned. It seems to be a string which can be used by a DHCP server to
identify a particular set of parameters to be returned to the client.
As an arbitrary string, it could convey more information than something
like a MAC address.
In this case, your ISP (who operates the relevant DHCP server) would
be the one who knows if this identifier needs to be set to some specific
value.
