Wired connection to nintendo switch from 108mbps DG834GT ROUTER

Since Buying the Switch (gaming console) I have tried to connect it to my home network through WIFI as has worked my 2ds (handheld console) but it just won't recognise my netgear modem's existence. So I bought an Ethernet cable (black CAT 6) and LAN to USB adapter to try to bypass the WiFi. Everything is connected properly and the switch recognises the connection but there is no internet connection because "[the console] could not perform DNS name resolution." It suggests changing the DNS settings but I don't know what settings would work.

Hello ed234

Try changing the DNS to googles which is 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Thank you for your reply Darren, but the console still produces the same error. Is 8.8.8.8 the full DNS address?

yes 8.8.8.8 is the full address and the secondary DNS is 8.8.4.4

It's sorted now. Thank you for all your help Darren. It turns out to be the most obvious solution ever - turn the console off and on again. Every time I finished with the console I would put in to sleep mode. Sorry for causing you trouble.
