manual upgrade of router DGN2200 v3

Hello, looks like I need some help as direct support from Netgear is not available for free.

I’m trying to manually upgrade my router to the newest version but system is not accepting IMG file type and is asking for “*.cfg” or (*.chk) file type. PLS NOTE, I want to upgrade manually by downloading upgrade file.

Product: DGN2200 v3

Serial Number: 26P1077K05285

Current firmware version is:

Hardware VersionDGN2200
Firmware VersionV1.0.0.57_7.0.57
GUI Language VersionV1.0.0.30

I would like to upgrade to DGN2200v3 Firmware Version 1.1.00.25

Download on Netgearweb page its only providing zip files with compresed file type “disk image”.

What shall I do to download CFG or CHK upgrade file for my router.

Please help

Thanks,

Artur

Thank you for your support and suggestions.

You are corct, my verison is V1, all is fine, I found all upgrade files and router is doing greate.

My purchase document confused me, as it states V3 when router is V1.

BIG thank you,

Artur

In regards to this topic it is a joke that Netgear dosnt provide free software support to mentioned product. Issue is serious as its related to router security options but there is no info how to manualy upgrade product. Just basic, usless info on how to do it without info how to get *.CFG file.

Are you sure?  Firmware kits for a DGN2200v3, as you've seen, seem to
contain a ".img" file, not a ".chk" file.  A firmware image for a
DGN2200[v1] or DGN2200v4, for example, would be a ".chk" file.

> Firmware Version V1.0.0.57_7.0.57

That looks (to me) like firmware for a DGN2200[v1], not for a
DGN2200v3 or DGN2200v4.

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Downloads.  (For older versions, under Firmware and Software
Downloads, look for "View Previous Versions".)  Find the kit(s).
Download the kit(s) you want.  Read the "Release Notes" file for
instructions.  (In the User Manual, look for "firmware", and,
especially, for a topic like "Manually Upload Firmware to the Router".)

Regarding "DGN2200v3", what does the "Model" field on product label
say?  What does the management web site say?

> Hardware Version DGN2200

If that's what the management web site says, then that would suggest
that you have a DGN2200[v1].  You might have a case or label for a
DGN2200v3.

You might ponder the firmware kits which are available for the
various hardware variants, to see what agrees best with what you have.

   It does for a while.

> [...] there is no info how to manualy upgrade product. [...]

Sure there is, but it helps if you can identify the product
correctly.

(Hmmm. I see that the firmware on my DGN2200v4 is out-of-date.  If I
were still using it, then I might care more.  At least this discussion
wasn't a total loss.)
