second access point

We are about to be connected to the nbn via fttn which requires a new vdsl2 capable modem router. I am wanting to set up a second access point in another room which does not receive the wireless signal from the main router.  I would be using an ethernet cable from the main router to the second router (lan to lan) and setting the second router to act as a repeater. My question is -  can I use my old dgnd 3700 v2 for this second access point or will I need to purchase another vdsl2 capable router ? Thanks

   The [V]DSL signal wouldn't be going to the DGND300v2, so its [V]DSL
capability (or lack thereof) would not matter.

It can help to think of the second device as an access point rather than a repeater. That will help if you need to get out into Google land for help.

(Confusingly, sometimes they call repeaters wireless access points.)

Repeater usually means that it receives the wifi from the source and then, er, repeats it. In your case, a wired connection means that it isn't really repeating anything, simply connecting you to the source.

You could use it as a repeater instead. See page 101 in the manual.

As the DGND3700v2 is a modem/router, you'll probably plug into the WAN socket for the access point (see page 20 in the manual).
