All R4500's are outside the Netgear security support period
The WNDR4500 been a wireless great router, but All R4500's are outside the Netgear security support period. Forget about any security firmware patches. I'm on the hunt for a supported replacement.
I don't know when this happened. I learned this by scanning my wireless network with the free version of Avast. The R4500's have security vulnerabilities. And has become orphaned by Netgear, so oh well. I don't know why this is still being sold on Amazon or anywhere, and the R4500 pages on Netgear make no mention of this stoppage of support. But if you search for "WNDR4500 ZDI-CAN-9703" you'll find the "Security Advisory" page with all the security patches that the WNDR4500 or its siblings will never get.
