Copy or Move Files without another Computer

I understand there is a SD/USB one button backup feature which is very handy.

Is it possible to use FTP client to copy or move files within the NAS itself?

Re: Copy or Move Files without another Computer

If NAS has FTP server built-in then FTP client app can move file to whatever.

Even using USB HD directly to router do FTP it should be same. FTP client can move file or whatever you want

If you are referring to the hard drive it is NOT a NAS. Don't confuse the two, they are not the same thing.

Re: Copy or Move Files without another Computer

Sorry for not being specific about my original inquiry.

Say if I need to copy / move a 10GB file on Internal_Drive share, I have to use a computer and leave it on until the copy / move is complete. Not to mention the network overhead (Windows file explorer or Netgear samba isn't smart enough).

Same situation applies when copying from one usb drive to another, both connected to WNDR4700.

Is there a better way around this?
