DGND3700v2 and Jitter?

After 4 long years of service, my Netgear DG834G packed in. To replace it, I recently purchased the Netgear N600 DGND3700v2 wireless router.

Since then, I am suffering from really high jitter which makes Skype calls and Online gaming intolerable.

This is what I would typically get with the DG 834G:

And this is what I have gotten for the past 3 days and what I got just 1 minute ago:

I don't use wireless and my PC is connected to the internet via the same Powerline adapters as my DG 834G was.

Can someone explain to me why this newer, 'better' and twice as expensive router is raping my connectivity and tell me if there is anything that I can do about it?

THX.
