Does the R6260 support usb printers via the ReadyShare Printer Utility

Good day,

I have a HP Laserjet 6 with a Parallel to USB adaptor that I would like to attach to our R6260 as a shared printer over my home network.  I see that the R6260 supports USB 2.0 storage devices but I can't find any information that it supports the ReadyShare Printer Utility.  I have a HP Color Laserjet Pro MFP M277dw attached to the R6260 via one ethernet but was hoping I could use the USB for the Laserjet 6.  Thanks for any info you can pass along.

Best wishes,

Duane

Nice antique (if it stilll works).  Except for its poor network
support, of course.  (AppleTalk/LocalTalk being pretty tough to find
anywhere these days.)

If it's not in the R6260 User Manual (which seems to be true), then
I'd say that you're doomed on the USB front.

You might see if you can find a bargain on an obsolete print server,
which could provide an Ethernet-to-parallel-port path.  The printer
User's Manual mentions the (also obsolete) JetDirect EX, J2591A, but
some newer (more common?) models might also work.  Ebay?

Re: Does the R6260 support usb printers via the ReadyShare Printer Utility

I did find a couple of powered parrallel-to-ethernet adaptors although they are a little pricey and don't know if they will work with the HPLJ6.  Also don't know how the R6260 will react when it is plugged in.  No issues with my HP Color Laser Jet MFP M277, but that comes with a variety of connection capabilities.

So I guess I'm up the creek with an antique for a paddle.  😞

Thanks for the reply.

Best wishes,

Duane

With a description as detailed as "powered parrallel-to-ethernet
adaptors", I also have no idea if they'd work.  I also don't know what
"a little pricey" means to you in this context.  I'd expect an Ebay
search for terms like "JetDirect" to turn up many cheap items, and some
poking around hp.com should reveal some compatibility info,
