Extending Range
Hi,
My main Router is a WNDR3700 with a VirginMedia SuperHub in Modem mode, I want to improve the WiFi downstairs, I have run Cat5 down there and wondering what my best options are.
I have 3 spare Netgear Routers, WNR2000, WNR854T and DGN2000, would any of these be good to use and if so how would I go about configuring them?
Or would I better off buying a Range Extender, Switch, Repeater etc?
Regards and TIA
Craig

Re: Extending Range
You can choose any of three model as spare you have a access point.
I do suggest to use different SSID since you are not using matching model which may not cause some connectivity issues.

Re: Extending Range
I've tried all 3 spare Routers, the WNR854T seems to work flawlessly using the instructions here http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/19852
I'm still unsure about whether I should set the same SSID's\Passphrase on both Routers?, they are different at the moment.

Re: Extending Range
You can test yourself. I would use different if you just need wifi device at each area to be connected

Re: Extending Range
Here's how I do it with 2 AP's plus router I can roam throughout home and yard with out having to even think about it. 2.4 SSID Private 5g SSID Private 5g Same security & Passphrase for all Use different channels 1.6,11 Everyone has reasons for their setup based on many factors and these work the best for me.
