Forum Associated Product List
To successfully post a discussion, you must select from the list of associated products. Why is this list so limited? I cannot enter my product since it does not show on the list. Forcing the incorrect selection of a product in order to post, seems contrary to the ability to post the discussion to the correct group. Either add to the list or create an entry field for product and model, where there is no drop down list. Or generic categories of NETGEAR products.
And why can't there be other selections like: Routers, Modems, Forum, support, website, product updates, marketing, gaming, security, Apps & Services, Switches, etc.
And labels: Updates, notifications, configuration, etc.

Re: Forum Associated Product List
You don't need to select the model drop down list. Not required to post. It's no longer kept up to date is is out of date so it's not needed. We've been asking NG to remove that drop down menu.

Re: Forum Associated Product List
Well, when you go to the posting page the Associated Products is asterisked as a must fill in field. Which of course leads to the confusion and misuse of incorrect product information.
Appreciate the response, though.
How do we get them to do what has been recommended? If it has been a long time there is a failure here that is not getting resolved. How can this be elevated to a responsible team to get corrected?
Thanks.

Re: Forum Associated Product List
This is not a forum problem, maybe rather a browser problem possibly. If it was a forum issue, many other users would be posting about it. I also don't see this either.
Doe this happen in all browsers?
If your starting a new Discussion using this button, the only items needed is the Subject line and Body text contents then select the POST button.
You can turn OFF Subject Suggestions as well:

Re: Forum Associated Product List
This is not a browser issue. The forum web page loads and works.
What this is, is a forum web page drop down list issue or lack of selections in the drop down lists themselves. You can easily verify this by posting a new discussion and then selecting an associated product from the drop down list. That list is very limited.
As you see from an earlier reply members have been trying to get NetGear to remove the list option completely since it is NOT kept up to date.

Re: Forum Associated Product List
The trick is to NOT select the Associate Product list or attempt to do anything with it. Just use the subject and body then select Post. The post should go thru.

Re: Forum Associated Product List
Here is the issue: You are new to the Forum. You do NOT know any tricks. All you see is the web page presented and asterisks around fileds that typically denote a must fill in field.
So anyone "new' to the Forum, trying to seek help or answers, is trying their best to follow Forum rules as presented by the WEB page for posting. They don't know the web page is errored.
And nothing, and I mean nothing, is worse than a site that won't remove outdated information or functions off a core web page. If it isn't used or is not kept up to date, then REMOVE it. This helps prevent confusion and helps newbies from falling into that trap.
