Since the Guest Network requires a paraphrase/password, just give this to your customers only.

Re: How can i block users on my guest network

if you are doing open encryption as hot spot but like to limited user. I would suggest to you "guest gate" products. guestgate.com

you do not want use encryption on free internet because it presents an issue with compatibility etc.

guestgate is made to do what you wanted do...

without spending any more money you could flash the router to DD-WRT open source and use the built in hotspot feature on a virtual interface Smiley Happy

it offers free internet, with time limits, you can setup paid for those that want to go over say 1 hour, many many options that will help you Smiley Happy

are on the DD-WRT i have but its for home use so none are enabled.

Re: How can i block users on my guest network

Yea, the 3700 here is not the solution.

The best solution is a two-tier approach (that isnt that common) if your in a real tech heavy area. Boxes that let people connect with no encryption and then a page teslls them how to connect to the encrypted wifi unit. From there you would want to launch them to your pay/guest portal.

You should probably seek help on the correct solution and not try to do it yourself. No consumer router is really going to do what you need unless you go with a lot of add-ons.

Re: How can i block users on my guest network

mac filtering is also easy to mac spoof. guest network section don't think applies to mac filtering at all.

To make life easier would be using also openmeshs.com or guestgate.com if you can to use DD-WRT.

Re: How can i block users on my guest network

I have a 3700 V1, and MAC filtering does apply to both the guest network and the main network. You can use MAC filtering with the guest network, but as others have stated, it is not that hard to defeat MAC filtering. At least it might keep out those who do not know how to easily bypass it.
