How do I block an IP address from my router?

Is there any way that I can just block an outside ip from accessing my internal network

What is your actual concern?  Normally, if you don't do anything
special (like, say, port forwarding), an external system will not be
able to access any system on your LAN (unless a system on your LAN
establishes communication with that external system).

I'm sorry to have bothered you with my attempt to elicit a question
which made more sense.  I wish you luck in getting a satisfactory
answer from someone else.

Re: How do I block an IP address from my router?

I have been searching the internet for an answer to this question for a couple of years to no avail.  It appears that the router does not have this feature.  External IP addresses have been attempting to hack into our Windows servers and workstations for years and it is only getting worse.  Sometimes a user is locked out from so many attempted/failed logins.  Once we had to delete a network device on a server and restart since all computers were blocked from accessing our LAN.  We do use port forwarding.

I have noticed that other branded routers have the ability to block external IP Addresses.  Why doesn't Netgear provide the same capability?

Have you tried adding the IP address to the Block Sites list under ADVANCED > Security > Block Sites? If that does not work can you get the MAC address of the device connecting to your network and block it using the Access Control?

Yes I have WnKB.  Unfortunately this does not work.  In adding new IP addresses I check to see if previously entered.

As the "Block Sites Help" on that page (on my D7000, V1.0.1.50_1.0.1)
says:

If you want to limit access to certain sites on the Internet, you
need to set up content filtering.

This stuff relates to Web browsing from the LAN, not external access
from the outside world.

That stuff relates to devices (normally wireless) trying to join the
LAN, not external access from the outside world.  MAC addresses are used
on the LAN.  You'll probably never see the MAC address of a device on a
different subnet.

They apparently sell enough routers without it.
