192.168.1.1 is the normal ip address of most routers made today 192.168.1.2 would be any device connected to the network 192.168.10.1 would be the same story as 192.168.1.2 .
How are you trying to log into the router 192.168.1.1 would via wired lan cable and the programed ssid and password that is on a white sticker on the router would have to be used to log in via wifi ?
The model number of the router would possible help.

Re: How to access 192.168.1.1
I am currenty unable to login to my R9000 Nighthawk. I am connected directly with a network cable. I get the connection but see a 401 code. No where to put admin credentials.
I no longer have the original PC that I set up the router with, so I am trying to connect with my Macbook Pro.
I am assuming with the original PC I may need to reset the router and start over. Or, would I be able to connect a different PC?
TIA!

First, start your own, new thread, for your own, different problem,
and let this old, dead thread rest in peace.

Firmware version?
"unable" is not a useful problem description. It does not say what
you did. It does not say what happened when you did it. As usual,
showing actual actions with their actual results (error messages, LED
indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague descriptions or
interpretations.

When you do what, exactly? Web browser? URL?

Using a Mac (or any different computer) should not cause any
particular trouble.

A settings reset might solve some odd-ball problems, but not using
some particular computer is unlikely to be your actual problem.
Visit https://www.netgear.com/support/ , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation. Get the User Manual. Look for "Factory Settings"
(or "reset").
