Iphone 4 lost connection again

My iphone worked fine with the 4500 , 217 mbps, aes only encryption.
Then the iphone was setup for e-mail by the e-mail vendor,
and the e-mail worked fine. BUT: now wifi surfing was lost !
No connection ! Found the SSID, but would not connect !
Tried the trick of resetting the 4500 to "no encryption", then
the iphone connected ok.
Then I changed the 4500 again, setting the original 217 mbps
and aes only encryption.
And the Iphone connected ok !
Seems that iphone gets confused at certain changes, and
need resetting to "no encryption" to clear the mess, before
setting encryption again. Or is it some trouble with the 4500?

Can anyone explain !

regards

Re: Iphone 4 lost connection again

perhaps you can try this at next time issue happen.
(1) use other wifi device to connect 4500, is it ok?
(2) power cycle iphone 4 and try again.
(3) power cycle 4500 and try again.

then you can know the bug owner.:D

Re: Iphone 4 lost connection again

this issues with iPhone and 450Mbps widely done by one user.

SEARCH the thread

217Mbps is only way to connect and I can't remember on encryption but You should take your time and go through.

thread are less than 3week old but you should able to find it

Re: Iphone 4 lost connection again

the power cycle means you turn off the device and turn on again, like reset.:)

Re: Iphone 4 lost connection again

Power on/off is soft-reset which only reboot the units.

reset some may see has hard reset/ factory default are only term used when actual small pin is pressed for correct duration.

Re: Iphone 4 lost connection again

I have exactly the same problem ... everything works fine until I take my Iphone or Itouch out of range and then back in range ... IT WILL NOT RECONNECT until I go into NetGenie and "apply" the wireless and guest setting and then reboot ... EVERY TIME I HAVE TO DO THIS. I have not found a solution yet, but after four tech support calls i insisted on an RMA and will see if a new unit fixes the problem.

I am using the 2.4 gig radio and it is already set to 54 ghz, so the speed is not the problem...any other thoughts?

Re: Iphone 4 lost connection again

brossyg:
I do not think that your specific 4500 is to blame, and that a new 4500
would solve the problem. My iphone problems was the same on two different 4500`s. It seems to me that the problem occurs when the iphone looses
connection, either because of "out of range" (your case), or when the
iphone "gets confused" due to change in its setup (my case).
In my case I solved it by tricking the iphone to connect via "no encryption"
in the router setup, in your case you solved it by tricking the iphone to
do a fresh connect-attempt when detecting a change in the router.
My bet: It is the Iphone that gets "confused" and locked in these cases,
and must be tricked to do a fresh attempt.

Re: Iphone 4 lost connection again

When you set it to "no encryption" do you mean you turned the password/security off? (Meaning no WEP, WPA or WPA2 ... just an open connection anyone can piggyback on?)?

Re: Iphone 4 lost connection again

Per suggestions here and elsewhere, I took off all security on my guest netowrk (2.4 mhz at 54 mbs) and now my iphone seems to work better, but the connection (despite strong WIFI signal) is still intermittent. I now have an open connection ... not good ... and it is still seems to connect intermittently. Any thoughts to get a brand new WNDR 4500 working with proper encryption with an iphone 4 ?

Re: Iphone 4 lost connection again

When I turned off the security yesterday, I said I could get it to work intermittently ... well, this morning I ran an errand, taking the Iphone out of range and when I came back into range of the router, it won't connect even without any security enabled. Looking forward to the RMA's arrival.

Re: Iphone 4 lost connection again

OK ... I haven't gotten the new WNDR4500 yet, but I set up my Cisco WAP610N again to check the Ipad/Iphone/Itouches and it works perfectly. There is no intemittent connection ... steady asa rock. the settings on the 2.4 ghz radio are:

Channel Width: 20 Mhz only (I understand Apply products don't work on 40 Mhz)

Wide and Standard Channel set to Auto

Mode is set to a specific protocol, G or N ... not mixed mode.

I want to try the WNDR4500 in N or G mode only, and turn off the 40 Mz channel, but I cannot find a setting for either ... any help???

Set Mode to either 54 or 217 Mbps.
