Just got IPOD Touch and can't connect on wifi :(

I called Netgear and they said laptops and printers are network devices which are working well, but that itouch, ipad, xbox etc are recreation devices which need to be correctly set up in order for my ipod to get the wifi connection. They stated they weren't able to help because my router is over one year old and no longer have service support with them...I NEED HELP PLEASE! How do I set up my router to support my new ipod? I tried putting in the MAC address where it said Router MAC address on the routerlogin.com page but it didn't help...would greatly appreciate the help...please!

Thanks in advance

Hello there,
Try this it worked for me on the same problem(dgn2000 router).

Reset the ipod touch and reboot the router(reset all on ipod).

Once you have reset ipod it will reboot leave it for a second untill the router has finished reboot then enter your password for the network you wish to connect to.
You should after entering this be able to connect and spend all your money on apps for it hehe hope this helps you my friend.....Merlin out.

Re: Just got IPOD Touch and can't connect on wifi :(

Don't use Apple software massively but - Ontop of that, just check the IP on the Ipod matches the 1st/2nd/3rd octet of the routerIP/Default Gateway.. eg if its a typical netgear class C it would likely be 192.168.0.1, so check that on the ipod it has a 192.168.0 address to work (the dhcp will assign the last digit for you).

If they've been saved manually in the past, they may stick. But like Merlin said, a master reset would resolve this anyway. Its more a case of "if you don't want to lose data".
