Hi Team,
I am not a tech-savvy person so need your help in limiting speeds for attached devices to router.
I checked my internet speed coming from my Internet Service provider. Both Download speed and Upload speed are somewhere around 4 MBPS, But still I face low internet speed on my laptop.
In my home, four members connect to Wi-fi router mostly by mobile phones and they see netfix vidoes or movies etc. due to which my laptop internet speed is low and therefore I cannot work properly on my laptop. I do sype calls -audio and video calls, then use some online softwares/portals to do my work.
By reading on some articles, I used QoS, but it only allows priority like low, normal, high or highest. But still members can see netflix movies without any interruption whereas I face low internet connectivity on my laptop.
Thats the reason, I asked for the help. Is there anyway where I can limit internet speeds of attached devices or set any particular bandwidth for all devices. Also, please guide me what speed limit or bandwidth should I keep for my laptop (seeing my work I mentioend above) and for others who use neflix or other online apps for movies. Prioirty is my work on laptop.
Thanks and regards,
Prats

@Prats wrote:Hi, Thank you for the sugestion. So what is the recommended internet speed for the work? it depends on what you do for work for what speed you need. If you're a graphics/video specialist, you'll need much higher bandwidth. If you've got an IT department at your work, check with them what they'd recommend for your specialty.
And regarding my query, I still want to understand how can I limit internet speed for other devices. Can you please also reply on that.---- i don't think you can limit with that device. You can set priority by device but I dont' see any bandwidth limiting.
it was manufactured in 2011 and was a very basic router when it came out. Its behind on features, security, and performance. I'm actually a bit impressed its still running after 9 years.

Ouch. 4mbps speed isn't very good.
If you NEED it for work, i'd disconnect all the other device entirely while you're working. that's going to be your best bet.
