Netgear not working

Hi, I have a netgear router WNDR3700v2 that recently stopped working..the power light is orange all other lights are either off or flash on orange and back off again...I tried to do a factory reset..nothing happend at all it did not reset..i installed net gear genie to try to update my firmware but the problem is..if I connect the netgear..i have no internet..i have to run a cable straight from my modem to my pc and bypass the netgear..is there any other way I can fix my router? please help if you can. Thank you

I did try that one..but i cannot find the settings to change them..i'm using windows 7 if you can direct me in the right place...thank you

   Which "the settings"?  If you follow the links in that thread, you
should find a Netbear KB article which explains how to change the
network settings in a Windows system.

ok, sorry to be a pain but the instructions say :

  1. Right-click the Windows start button then select Network Connections.
  2. Right-click Ethernet and select Properties.
  3. Double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).

I dont have the option on windows start button for Network Connections...cant find Ethernet to select properties

    I don't have a Windows 7 system handy.  Start at the Control Panel?
