No DHCP and not connecting the the DSL Router

My N750 was working fine up until last Sunday when the internet suddenly stopped on my PC. On investigation I found that I could access the internet over Wireless but not via a wired connection. The problem being that I couldn't get a DHCP address from the router.

However, plugging the ethernet cable directly into the Broadband router supplied by my ISP meant I could access the internet again, so it's not my PC or the cable. The N750 also won't get an address from the broadband router as the little 'world' light stays amber.

I called Netgear support and we went through all of the usual things - reset the N750 to factory defaults, try static IP address on the PC etc etc. However none of this restored access to the N750. And as I'd pressed the 'Reset' button, I can't connect over wireless as it's not configured anymore.

I then got bounced to a higher level support who wanted me to buy a support contract before they'd talk to me. However, as the router is only 7 months old* I thought I'd ask here before starting the tortuous route of returning the thing for a replacement.

So, is there a way to 're flash' the N750 without being able to connect to it? I wondered if there was a sequence of button presses with an flash image on a USB key to press?

Is there a 'master master' reset that resets more than just holding the reset button that you push a paperclip into?

Other than 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.1.1 are there any other IP addreses I can try and manually connect to if I set a static address on my PC?

Does anyone have any further ideas? (other than pay the £59 or buy a DLink...)

TIA!!

No one? Did I phrase the question wrong?

Does anyone have an idea just what Netgear support would do when they say they can remote into the router (even though it has an amber internet connection light) and resolve the issue?

I went through the exact same thing with mine. Got a replacement that did the same thing. The only solution was another model.

There is some type of major problem with the WNDR4000.

NetGear knows of the problem but has or can not fix the problem. Here is my original thread and some others with the same issue. There are plenty more in forums all over the internet.
