No internet connection on WNDR3700
After 2 1/2 years of issue-free service, yesterday my WNDR3700 stopped sending any internet signal out at all. I am a web developer, so I'm pretty comfortable diagnosing most issues, but nothing I've tried has worked. The ISP is Comcast - I go from the wall into a Motorola DOCSIS cable modem. The DOCSIS is working fine, as I can plug a laptop directly into the ethernet connection and surf away. I have tried the following to no avail:
- re-seated the ethernet cable on the router several times
- powered down the router several times
- upgraded the firmware to the most recent version available as of today
- reset to factory settings via the ol' toothpick approach
- unplugged both the cable modem and router, letting the cable modem reset, then re-powering the router
I can *can* connect to the router, but there is no internet connection and the router is not pulling an IP address. I am now completely at a loss. Does anyone have any additional ideas, or experience successfully recovering from this issue? I've found several posts on this board, and others, and have tried everything suggested, but with no joy.

Re: No internet connection on WNDR3700
Thanks for the quick response! Yes - the WAN is showing 0.0.0.0. I set the MAC address to the same as one laptop on the network, confirmed the correct address was showing, clicked Apply button and no change.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: No internet connection on WNDR3700
What lights are lit up when you're wired/connected wirelessly?
Also are these lights green/amber?
Then, which lights are flashing and which are solid?
I hope I can help you out with this. 🙂

Re: No internet connection on WNDR3700
by the way, if you have reset the router, please do mac spoofing.
>login to your UI
>go to internet tab under Basic tab
>first question asks you if your ISP requires login: click NO
>move down to the last question/portion that's says about MAC address
>choose the 2nd option: USE THIS COMPUTER MAC ADDRESS
this set up requires cable connected from the modem, modem to the WAN port of the router, router to your PC/laptop.
Leme know how it goes, provided it lights are stable.

Re: No internet connection on WNDR3700
Well, I tried the MAC spoofing before, but only after Charm's post did I realize I would need to be hard-wired from the computer whose MAC I'm spoofing to the router, but I did it again as Charm recommended with an Ethernet connection and now it's working!
That's strange - the whole time I've had this router, I'm pretty sure I used its MAC address. So do I change it back to the router's MAC now that it's reset, or leave it as-is?
THANKS GUYS!

Re: No internet connection on WNDR3700
You can try default setting which is to use routers MAC address
However if still downs not work use PC's MAC address instead.
Issues would be ISP somehow not able release the IP to routers address. I doubt reset the router will help
If you can get PC's MAC address to work try week or later and see if works

Re: No internet connection on WNDR3700
Leave the settings as is after the MAC spoof. Everything you do with the reset, deletes all the settings you had.
just a reminder, before resetting, firmware upgrade/downgrade, please make it habit to wire your computer to your router. Chances are, you will "brick" your router if you do it wirelessly due to connection interruption.
Enjoy, Zendin! 🙂
