Plugged directly into my cable modem I have 118 mbps. Wired connection with my N300 my bandwidth drops to 80mbps. Wireless sitting right next to the router my bandwidth drops to 50 mbps. Is this expected performance? Very surprised with a significant drop off in performance .

The Internet port of the WNR2000v5 only supports up to 100Mbps. It cannot exceed more than that.
You will need to get a new router in order maximize the provided speed by your ISP.
