Disconnecting it would make its security perfect.  (Disconnecting the
power should be enough.)

Is there some actual problem which you are trying to solve?

Work out what you want to do and read abut it in the manual.

Visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

and feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

Some security depends on a paid subscription to something like "Armor" or "Circle".

Unfortunately, your router is too basic (inexpensive) to support Armor.

Disconnecting it is not the answer, how would I be able to use it if it were disconnected.

Sorry about that, but you have been on the receiving end of a message from someone whose objective in life seems to be to belittle everyone who doesn't come up to their high standards of computer expertise .

I suggest that you ignore message that don't get you anywhere and move on to those that might help.

It's not a very useful answer, I'll admit.

You wouldn't, but its security would be perfect.

Still a mystery.  Until you offer some clues as to your actual goal,
not a very useful answer may be about the best you'll get.

Michaelkenward, I have it hooked up now with the WPA2, but lately I'm getting the message that says I need to up it to something like WPA/WPK  or something like that. What is the Netgear website where I can go to find out how to set my security at a higher level?  Thank you.

That is a wifi setting. What is showing you that message?

Did you dig out the manual for the R6080 and check "WPA"?

Michaelkenward, you are correct, it is a WiFi setting where it is telling me that I have weak security. I have also had Spectrum help and someone else tell me that my security was not good. That's why I got worried about it.  I have not dug out the manual yet, because I thought this might be faster than trying to dig through things to find it.  Thanks again.

Believe it or not, an accurate quotation the actual message would be
more helpful than an inaccurate summary "or something like that".
Copy+paste is your friend.

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Read.  Look for "Manage the
Basic WiFi Settings and WiFi Security of the Main Network".  Then, under
"Security Options", look for something which resembles what was in the
actual message which you get.

> [...] it is a WiFi setting where it is telling me that I have weak

A "WiFi setting" does not send you a message.  Where, exactly, are
you seeing this message, when you do what, exactly?  Are you trying to
connect some device or other wirelessly to your router, or what?

How has that method been working for you so far?

Most PDF reader programs include a "Search" or "Find" feature, which
can reduce the effort needed to "dig through" it.
